Patrick D. Sheehy

Patrick Sheehy has more than 30 years of experience as a senior executive and fundraising consultant in healthcare, higher education and social services philanthropy. He has managed a number of capital campaigns, achieving goals totaling $100 million for organizations such as medical-surgical hospitals, Hillcrest Family Services, Macalester College, and Augsburg University. Other organizations for which Mr. Sheehy has led fundraising efforts include the College of Education at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT, The Eppson Foundation in Laramie, WY, and his most recent position as executive director of WyoFile.com, a respected Wyoming news and opinion website.
Patrick’s background ranges from directing a team of 14 high performing professionals to a solo effort in support of a nonprofit organization. His past consulting experience has included a national association and regional and local philanthropic enterprises.
He has a depth of familiarity and capability in all matters and corners of fundraising, marketing, leadership and organizational development. Patrick has had a special interest and career-long experience in major gifts and planned giving. He has additional experience in corporation and foundation relations, annual giving, special purpose giving and development communications.
Patrick’s professional life had its origins in the University of Montana School of Journalism, after which he began a career as a newspaper reporter and editor in Montana. Using his strong ties with the Rocky Mountain West, he transitioned into development while at a hospital in Idaho, leading to a three-decade accomplished career as a highly qualified fundraiser and capital campaign consultant. He also has an impressive background in volunteer efforts for multiple organizations, in professional development, and as an educator and presenter at industry seminars.
Patrick and his wife Wendy O’Leary currently reside in Laramie, Wyoming.
