Jay Lockaby has more than 25 years of experience as an accomplished fundraising professional with specific expertise in major gift strategy and capital campaign planning, organization and direction.
As Senior Executive Counsel with GSI, Jay has been engaged in a number of planning studies and campaigns involving community hospitals, health care systems, and other not-for-profit sector clients. Most recently, Jay has directed multi-million dollar campaigns for two GSI clients that are embarking upon major expansion projects. Specifically, these include a Children’s Hospital in Pensacola, Florida and a large aquarium in Clearwater, Florida. Both campaigns continue to be on track to meet or exceed their ambitious goals.
Prior to GSI, Jay spent 14 years with the Cancer Support Community (CSC), first as President and CEO of a successful local chapter and then as Senior Vice President, Affiliate Relations and Strategic Growth at CSC headquarters. During his first tenure, the chapter successfully conducted and completed an $8.3 million capital campaign. As SVP for the Cancer Support Community, the organization raised a total of $350 million during his seven-years in the position. Prior to his work at CSC, Jay was a Regional Social Services Director for The Salvation Army, during which time he participated in fund raising efforts which netted $30 million over seven years.
Jay’s history outside of his career is equally compelling. He is a 1992 graduate of Emory University where he was an NCAA All-American and team captain in swimming. He holds a Master of Social Service and Law and Social Policy from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He is married to Tracy and has a son, Owen, and daughter, Layla. Until recently, Jay swam competitively for many years and is an active alumnus of Leadership Sarasota and Leadership Florida.
